The heart of Wild, Wonderful West Virginia

Dry Fork sits in the highest, wildest corner of West Virginia — skiing, waterfalls, wilderness, rivers, and rock climbing all within a short drive, with two tiny mountain towns for great food and live music. We keep books and maps in the house to help you plan.

Skiing & winter

One of the best snow pockets in the Mid-Atlantic — downhill, cross-country, snowshoeing, tubing & sledding:

The Dry Fork River

On the water

The Dry Fork River runs the length of the property and is stocked with trout — once in February, then every two weeks through March, April and May. Nearby: whitewater rafting, canoeing and tube drifting with Blackwater Outdoor Adventures (~45 min).

The Purple Fiddle live-music venue and tour bus in Thomas, WV

Towns & live music

The towns of Davis & Thomas (~20 mi) have outsized food, coffee, farmer's markets, and art galleries — and the best in Appalachian bluegrass at the legendary Purple Fiddle in Thomas.

More to do: scenic drives, mountain biking and bike rentals, horseback riding, NROCKS zip-lining and via ferrata, the Cass Scenic Railroad, and the Green Bank Observatory (~80 min). Plan it all through Wild, Wonderful West Virginia tourism.
